MTA TERMINAL RENOVATION

Project Description:
State and federal grants will pay for a $6-million rebuild of the MTA terminal located on Harrison Street in downtown Flint. Built in 1990, the renovation is so extensive almost the entire building will be rebuilt. Work will be completed by the end of 2006. Additional features of the renovation include an 11 foot by 38 foot electronic community bulletin board, local artist’s exhibits both inside and out, state-of-the-art transportation technology, and a new commercial area with vendors. A space will also be set aside for a tribute to Rosa Parks, who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus to a white man sparking a boycott and becoming a national symbol for the struggle for civil rights.
