With several major universities and colleges in the downtown Flint area including Kettering University, The University of Michigan-Flint, and Mott Community College as well as others located in the Greater Flint Area the area has more than 27,000 college students. In addition to the existing student housing at Kettering University, area leaders are exploring additional housing choices for students throughout the downtown area. Major development projects currently taking place in downtown Flint including loft-style apartments, restaurants, coffee shops, nightclubs, and arts and culture venues will truly make the area a college town in the foreseeable future.

Kettering University

Kettering University is world renowned for its educational programs and boasts more than 700 corporate sponsors from all over the world. Kettering has been the nation’s top producer of mechanical engineers and has been ranked number one for undergraduate industrial/manufacturing engineering degrees. Known for its unique system of co-op education, Kettering combines classroom studies with work experiences allowing students to gain professional skills while helping pay for their university education. Mott Community College

Mott Community College provides high quality, accessible and affordable educational opportunities and services – including associate’s degrees, university transfer, technical and lifelong learning programs to county residents. The new Regional Technology Center (RTC) trains southeast Michigan residents for high-tech jobs focusing on computer simulations and state-of-the-art design programs to support Michigan’s manufacturing industry.

The University of Michigan-Flint

The University of Michigan-Flint’s modern riverfront campus in downtown Flint offers more than 60 undergraduate and 10 graduate degree programs including a doctor of physical therapy. Additional programs include those in liberal arts and sciences, elementary or secondary education, nursing, business and computer science. The campus stretches across the river to the William S. White Building, a $35.6 million professional studies and classroom building.

Baker College is the largest private college system in Michigan, providing undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as training programs for high-tech jobs. The Flint campus offers a full array of programs including associate through master’s degrees via on-ground, online, and video delivery. www.baker.edu
